This article will be about 1 move or moves every MLB team should make this offseason.
AL East
Rays: Sign Alex Cobb-2 years 7.1million dollars (3.55 AAV)
The Rays are known for not spending money, so I do not think they will resign Nelson Cruz, especially with the lack of production Cruz brought after being traded to the Rays. Instead they should try to sign a very underrated pitcher in Alex Cobb. Cobb had a 3.76 era with a 2.92 fip, and a 1.264 whip. The Rays develop their pitching very well, so they could make Cobb a great pitcher, which is why I think they should sign him.
Red Sox: Resign Kyle Schwarber-3 years 59 million dollars (19.66 AAV)
The Red Sox were 2 wins away from the World Series in 2021, and they could really use the help of Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber put up great numbers with both Washington, and Boston, so getting a bat like Schwarber back into their lineup for 3 years, could get them to the World Series.
Yankees: Trade for Matt Olson/ sign Corey Seager-5 years 129 million dollars (25.8 AAV)
For the majority of the year, the Yankees were in need of a left handed power bat, so they acquired Joey Gallo from the Rangers. Gallo struggled in New York and he is an inconsistent hitter alone. Trading for Matt Olson, and signing Corey Seager could fix that problem well.
Blue Jays: Resign Robbie Ray-3 years 68 million (22.66 AAV)/ resign Marcus Semien-4 years 115 million (28.75 AAV)
The Blue Jays were 1 win away from going to the 2021 postseason and Robbie Ray, and Marcus Semien were 2 guys that helped a ton. Robbie Ray was just announced as the 2021 American League Cy Young, so he will be getting paid a lot, along with Semien. If the Blue Jays resign both of these guys, they could be a huge problem next year.
Orioles: Call up Adley Rutschman
Orioles have the number 1 prospect in MLB in their farm system named Adley Rutschman. Adley was drafted at the number 1 pick by the Orioles in 2019, and has shown exaclty why he was darfted at the number 1 pick. Rutschman is a switch hitting catcher with insane pop, and good defense. The Orioles aren't close to finishing their rebuild, but they need to call up Adley Rutschman as soon as possible.
AL Central
White Sox: Sign Nick Castellanos-4 Years 112 million (28 AAV)
The White Sox have one of the best offensive lineups in the MLB already, but imagine that lineup with a hitter like Castellanos in there. Castellanos came off a career year for the Reds, and he is looking for a lot of money. If the White Sox could sign Castellanos, they could have an outfield consisting of: Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, and Nick Castellanos. That would be the best outfield in baseball by a good margin.
Indians: Trade Shane Bieber
The Indians are in the middle of nowhere this upcoming season. They are not contenders nor are they a rebuilding team. Indians need to start a rebuild because they do not have a great farm system, and not a great lineup at the MLB level. Shane Bieber is a top 10, maybe top 5 pitcher in the MLB, so they could get a ton of prospects for a pitcher like Bieber.
Tigers: Sign Carlos Correa-6 years 195 million (32.5 AAV)
Carlos Correa is a top 15 player in baseball with one of, if not the best glove in the field. For the Tigers, their main target should be Correa because they do not have a shortstop for the next season. If the Tigers could sign Correa, the Tigers would be a very scary team for the future due to their high ranked farm system. Correa will also be reunited with AJ Hinch, his former manager on the Astros until 2020.
Royals: Call up Bobby Whit Jr
The Royals drafted Bobby Whit Jr with the second pick of the 2019 draft. Whitt has exploded in the minors so far, and is ready to be called up. The Royals have a good shortstop in Nicky Lopez, but the could always move Bobby or Lopez to 3B or 2B.
Twins: Extend/Trade Buxton
The Twins are in a pickle with Buxton. They are still deciding if they should keep or trade Buxton. Buxton has amazing value right now, but his problem is his health. Buxton has been very injury prone in the past and in 2021, so it would be a roll of the dice to give him a huge extension.
AL West
Astros: Sign Trevor Story-5 years 100 million (20 AAV)/ Sign Jon Gray-2 years 18 million (9 AAV)
The Astros just resigned Justin Verlander, but they still need another starting pitcher in their rotation. Houston will also probably lose their shortstop in Carlos Correa because he said he doesn't want to resign back. They will need a good shortstop to fill in the whole of Correa, so singing Trevor off of a down year might be a great move.
Mariners: Sign Kris Bryant-2 years 32 million (16 AAV)
The Mariners just lost their starting 3B, Kyler Seager, so they need a new and improved 3B. Kris Bryant is a 3B who won't cost too much money, but he will also play multiple positions if they need him to, and he will be a good fit for the Mariners.
Athletics: Trade Matt chapman, Matt Olson, Chris Bassit, and Sean manaea
The Athletics should start their rebuild this offseason and get a bunch of prospects in return.
Angels: Sign Marcus Stroman-3 years 77 million (25.6 AAV)
The Angels desperately need pitching, so they need to get a very good starter. The Angels just signed Noah Syndergaard to a 1 year 21 million deal, but they still want another arm. Getting a great pitcher like Stroman could finally give them a playoff birth.
Rangers: Sign Chris taylor-3 years 58 million (19.3 AAV)
Chris Taylor just officially declined the Dodgers qualifying offer for around 18.4 million dollars. Although he declined that QO, he isn't worth much more. The Rangers want to spend money, so they should sign a reliable utility bat in Chris Taylor.
NL East
Braves: Resign Freddie Freeman-5 years 150 million (30 AAV)
The Braves number 1 priority should be to resign the 2020 MVP, Freddie Freeman. Freeman came off yet another great year, so the Braves need to get him back on their roster. The Braves won the World Series in 2021, so bringing Freeman back, could also get them back in the World Series.
Phillies: Trade for Chris Bassitt
The Phillies struggled with their pitching in 2021. Their only reliable pitcher was Zach Wheeler, who finished 2nd in the Cy Young voting. If the Phillies could add an arm like Chris Bassitt to their rotation, the Phillies could make the playoffs for the first time in over a decade.
Mets: Resign Javier Baez-2 years 34 million (17 AVV)
The Mets traded a very good prospect to Chicago for Javier Baez in Pete Crow-Armstrong, so they need to resign Baez. Baez played very good in Queens, so getting Baez back on their roster for a full year could help the Mets get back to the playoffs.
Marlins: sign Tommy Pham-3 years 21 million (7 AAV)
Tommy Pham struggled in his 2 years with the padres, so a new scenery change for Pham could help him get back to his old self. The Marlins also need a new outfielder, so getting a bat like Pham in their outfield could be very helpful to the finish of the Marlins rebuild. Pham would not be expensive, and could comeback to the player he was and hit 20+ homeruns.
Nationals: Trade Josh Bell
Josh Bell is on the last year of his deal in which he is owed around 8.3 million dollars. He is a very solid 1B, so trading him could give the nationals a couple of good prospects.
NL Central
Brewers: Sign Nick Castellanos-4 years 112 million (28 AAV)
The Brewers offense went on a huge slump in the last month of the season, and was the main reason they got eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. If the Brewers could sign a guy like Nick Castellanos, their offense could be dangerous every night, along with their elite pitching.
Cardinals: Sign Trevor Story-5 years 100 million (20 AAV)
The Cardinals are in need of a shortstop, so signing a shortstop like Trevor Story could help them go deeper into the playoffs. Story and Arenado played in Colorado for a very long time, so getting them back on the same field could help both of them improve as well.
Reds; Trade away Luis Castillo, and Jessie Winker
The Reds are most likely losing out on their all star outfielder in Nick Castellanos, and the just waived Wade Miley, their best pitcher of 2021. The Reds need to start their rebuild this offseason, or at the deadline, so they could get a lot in return for these two big names.
Cubs: Trade Kyle Hendricks
The Cubs are currently in a rebuild, with a pitcher who has a decent amount of money owed. Kyle Hendriks is coming off a down year in 2021, but they Cubs could trade him for a good prospect or 2, and get his contract off the table.
Pirates: Sign Alex Colome-1 year 3 million (3 AAV)
Colome is coming off a down year in 2021, so the Pirates could get him for cheap, and possibly flip him at the trade deadline.
NL West:
Giants: Sign Nick Castellanos-4 years 112 million (28 AAV) or sign Starling Marte-2 years 42 million (21 AAV)
The Giants could use another outfielder since they probably won't resign kris Bryant, Said Farhan Zaidi, so signing a bat like Castellanos or Marte will boost their offense even more in 2022.
Dodgers: Resign Max Scherzer-2 years 50 million (25 AAV)
The Dodgers traded for Max Scherzer and Trea Turner at the trade deadline. The Dodgers also gave up 2 top 100 prospects in that deal, so they will for sure want to resign Scherzer.
Padres: Trade away Eric Hosmer
Eric Hosmer is owed around 20-22 million dollars in 2022. Hosmer has been dealing with personal issues in San Diego and with the padres front office, so Hosmer should not be on the Padres 2022 roster, due to his high contract and his problems.
Rockies: Resign Jon Gray-2 years 18 million (9 AAV)
The Rockies did not want to trade Jon Gray at the trade deadline because they were going to give him a qualifying offer, but they did not, so they should resign him to get him back in a Rockies uniform.
Diamondbacks: Trade Ketel Marte
Ketel is one of the most consistent hitters in the league, and he is currently on a team who are rebuilding. Trading Ketel Marte could help them speed up the rebuild because of his very high value. Marte is a switch hitter who plays in the outfield, but can also play at 2B.
This is every teams ideal move or one of the best moves each team could make this offseason. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this!
